Brockwell Park Basketball Court Reconstruction

In March 2017, ETC Sports Surfaces began work at the historical Brockwell Park having been contracted by Lambeth Council to reconstruct the existing, outdated basketball court. The project consisted of the construction of a new basketball court surface, perimeter court fencing, kerb endings and basketball goal units.

Brockwell Park is a large popular, public park located between Brixton, Dulwich and Herne Hill and features ornamental ponds, an ‘Old English’ flower garden and 19th century clock tower. In addition, Brockwell Park is home to historical buildings, as well as a number of publicly accessible sporting facilities, including its basketball court.

In need of refurbishment, Lambeth Council received a grant for the basketball court reconstruction from Basketball England, the national governing body of the sport in England.  Basketball England’s mission is to oversee the sport at all levels for all ages and ability. They offer guidance on improving standards, offer training opportunities and provide funding programmes for clubs, teams and organisations, such as local councils.

At ETC Sports Surfaces, we enjoy being a part of community projects such as these. We understand the importance of having publicly available sporting facilities within the community that provide a number of benefits, particularly for the health and well-being of young people.

At the time of writing, Brockwell Park basketball court is free to use and no booking required.
