Tennis Court Construction at Stratford Park, London

ETC Sports Surfaces are pleased to announce the completion of a recent tennis court construction project at Stratford Park in East London.

We were recently commissioned by Newham Council to convert two existing dense asphalt tennis courts and a multi-use games area to form six new porous asphalt tennis courts with LED floodlighting.

The project began with the ducting and drainage of channels and the creation of square draw pits for the new LED floodlighting system.  You can view photos of each stage in the project here.

Stratford Park, is a popular community park situated in West Ham Lane, in the London Borough of Newham. It offers a range of sports facilities, including a basketball court, bowling green, five-a-side football pitch, table tennis and six new tennis courts.

The newly resurfaced floodlit tennis courts are brought to residents by Newham Council in partnership with activeNewham, the Mayor’s Fund and the Lawn Tennis Association.

activeNewham, a Leisure Trust with charitable status working in partnership with Newham Council to deliver leisure, sports and volunteering opportunities in Newham states:

“Newham are proud to offer tennis as one of the many sports programmes in the aim to get more people in Newham taking part in more sport and physical activity. Tennis is a great sport with many health and fitness benefits and it is also a very enjoyable way to make new friends.”

ETC have very much enjoyed working on this project. We take pride in the ability to renew and refresh existing sports surfaces that need reviving, bringing them back to life and providing the community with a quality playing surface. Additionally, we are passionate about using local, community spaces to encourage people to take part in sporting activities and are privileged to work alongside organisations, such as activeNewham to achieve this.
