ETC Sports Surfaces - Sports Surfaces - Needle Punched Surfaces

Manufacturing Process

Needlepunch surfaces for sport offers an alternative to acrylic, macadam and tufted products. The construction of a needlepunch surface starts with the polypropylene staple fibres being placed into a machine at the exact pile weight requirement. These fibres are combed into line through a carding machine layering the fibres in one direction. The fibres are then placed into a needling loom which interlocks the coarser denier fibre creating a flat carpet. This is then placed on a structure machine which creates the required pile design and height specification.

Application

Due to the flexibility of the surface, which is largely a result of the way in which these products are manufactured, Needlepunch surfaces are suitable for a wide range of applications. This includes; Multi Sport, Tennis, Netball, Hockey, Football, Cricket and Playgrounds as well as Golf and other sports. Many Needlepunch surfaces meet requirements set by the ITF (International Tennis Federation), FIH (International Hockey Federation) and all surfaces manufactured by Playrite meet the EN15330 standards. ETC Sports have installed Needlepunch surfaces at various different establishments such as tennis clubs, schools and sports centres across the country.

Product Information

Needlepunch synthetic surfaces offer a hardwearing, long lasting alternative to natural grass and other surfaces for sport. Needlepunch surfaces can be used both indoor and outdoor, and are suitable for use in all weather as well as a multitude of different sports depending on the final product specification.

Although Needlepunch surfaces are low maintenance, they do require some upkeep to ensure the surfaces perform at their best. Without maintenance you can expect a Needlepunch product to last up to ten years and where a maintenance regime has been followed this will add an extra 3 – 4 years to the life of the surface.
