ETC Sports Surfaces - Sports - Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGA)

 multi use games area is commonly constructed when various sports will be played and are commonly installed for schools and councils. There are different types of surfaces;

Type 1/2 – this is an open textured porous macaden used for ball rebound sports such as tennis netball and basketball. These areas are suitable for wheelchair sports. Life expectancy is on average 10 years. this surface requires the least maintenance such as moss killing and pressure washing on a yearly basis.

Type 3/4 – this is a polymeric surface which  you can play the same sports on as type 1 and 2 but the best sport to play on this is netball. It is possible to play tennis on here but it has a low ball bounce. The only difference between type 3 and type 4 is the rubber and binder. On average life expectancy for this type of surface is 5 years.

Type 5 – synthetic turf areas (STPs). These surfaces are sandfilled/sand dressed or needle punch carpet. All these surfaces are sutiable to play most sports;  football, hockey, tennis, and can be used as training areas for athletics and rugby. But no spiked or studded footwear can used on this surface. This type of surface will need a maintenance regime weekly, monthly and annually. On occasions it will need professional service.

The facility can be floodlit to get the maximum use in winter months, and can generate more revenue for the club/school, as you are able to use the MUGA for longer hours. The fencing system is robust and will also incorporate rebound boards for use of 5 a side games and is less prone to being vandalised.  Each fencing system can be custom designed to suit your needs. Goal recesses and basketball shooting goals can be incorporated into the system should it be required as well seating and shelting.
