Sand dressed surface is the best for hockey and is recognised by the FIH (Federation of International Hockey). It has a shorter denser pile than traditional sand filled carpets and has less sand fill. It has a softer surface aswell as a superior ball roll and is designed for professional and recreational hockey.
Sand filled systems are the significantly cheaper option as you can change the pile density due to the amout of sand. The tufting method is the most widely used and available. The silica sand in-fill should consist of non-abrasive, non staining, well rounded dust free particles. Most commonly the sand fill is usually to within 3mm of the fibre tip. This is the more traditional type of surface and is strong where various sports are to be played. We can supply various types and pile heights to suit your requirements, with the general pile height being between 18-25ml.
Needle punch carpets – this is a hard wearing alternative surface which can provide excellent characteristics and durability, and generally they are around 8-16mm thick and have a fine sand filling. The surface is either tufted or woven.
The facility can be floodlit to get the maximum use in winter months, and can generate more revenue for the club/school, as you are able to use the MUGA for longer hours. The fencing system is robust and will also incorporate rebound boards for use of 5 a side games and is less prone to being vandalised. Each fencing system can be custom designed to suit your needs. Goal recesses and basketball shooting goals can be incorporated into the system should it be required as well seating and shelting.
