ETC Sports Surfaces - Sports - Football

SportsRecreational football pitches will come in vaious sizes with some including goal recesses at either end and along the sides so 5 a side can be played across the pitch. Pitch dividers can alsonstalled for cross-play. The facility can be floodlit to get the maximum use in winter months, and can generate more revenue for the club/school, as you are able to use the pitch for longer hours. The fencing system is robust and will also incorporate rebound boards for use of 5 a side games and is less prone to being vandalised.  Each fencing system can be custom designed to suit your needs. Goal recesses can be incorporated into the system should it be required as well seating and shelting.

The 3G surface is an artificial surface which is sand an rubber filled which is ideal for football as it has plain characterisitics off natural turf and you can wear studded boots on this turf. Football clubs and local authorities are now installing this surface across the country as it can be used during the winter months when natural football field become unusable due to the adverse weather. The fibre and density of the carpet can vary to suit different needs as it has different pile height and variations. A shock pad can be installed. The surface can come in two-tone green which excentuates the look of natural grass. The new generation carpet is made from monofillament with a natural look and feel, with improved sliding properties. There are 2 systems that we use:

  1. Dyamic Base – this is a long pile carpet/ 60-65ml laid on to a carefully prepared stone base. This is a more cost effective method of construction but will need slightly more maintenance.
  2. Engineered Base – this is a system which incorporates tarmac on a stone base and a shock pad. This is probably the best sytem on the market which requires less maintenance in the future years.

Silica sand is installled into the bottom of the fibre and then a rubber infill is inlayed and designed to provide the shock absorption.

Football can also be played on sand filled and sand dressed surfaces;

Sand dressed surface has a shorter denser pile than traditional sand filled carpets and has less sand fill. It has a softer surface aswell as a superior ball roll.

Sand filled systems are the significantly cheaper option as you can change the pile density due to the amout of sand. The tufting method is the most widely used and available. The silica sand in-fill should consist of non-abrasive, non staining, well rounded dust free particles. Most commonly the sand fill is usually to within 3mm of the fibre tip. This is the more traditional type of surface and is strong where various sports are to be played. We can supply various types and pile heights to suit your requirements, with the general pile height being between 18-25ml.

Needle punch carpets – this is a hard wearing alternative surface which can provide excellent characteristics and durability, and generally they are around 8-16mm thick and have a fine sand filling. The surface is either tufted or woven.

Football Hockey Combination surface

This is a 3G multisurface that is ideal where the client wants to play football and hockey. It is a 40mm pile sand and rubber field surface laid on a 15mm shock pad.
